A review of the accomplish- ments of the Club in Lake S t e v e n s beautification was given as follows: The Pilehuck Club spearheaded the drive for funds and planting of the new addition of the Senior High raising $225.00 of the $500.00; presented the price of a shrub to the Pilchuck School plant- ing; and raised funds and plant- ed the entire front grounds of the rake Stevens Baptist Church at a cost of $215.00. Members agreed that they are interested in furthering land- scaping and beautification in our area and have tentative plans for fund raising toward this end. Thompson won first prize. Fea- tured program of the afternoon was a talk on fuchsias by Mrs. Richard Reiman, whose beauti- ful plants of last summer are sure proof of her ability in this area. The theme, Here Comes Spring, was depicted in many beautiful arrangements. Mem- bers also brought their Bonsia trees for display, a project of the year in which unusual in- terest has been shown. The first letter, dated March 16, arrived last week from Frank T. Meyer, whose world famous collection is found at the Lake Stevens Frontier Vil- lage Museum. Meyer left for Europe the first of March where he planned to tour in order to find more antiques for the Museum. Spending four days touring and visiting antique shops in Italy, Meyer reported having seen many beautiful art ob- jects there. Many of them he had seen in pictures and books, but he found that one can never realize the fine beauty and eolor in the pieces until actually seeing them. Meyer liked the Italian marb- les, but regretted having to re- sist from buying them beeause shipping presented such a prob- lem. The program for the evening featured a talk by Faye Hamil- ton of Everett. She spoke on modern art and painting. A financial report for Febru- ary was given by Doris Suha- dolnik, treasurer. She also gave a financial report from the Twig Shop (the gift shop at the General Hospital.) Proceeds all go to the childrens foundation for hospital equipment. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Widklund and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mitchell co-hosted a card party as a money-raising project for the Auxiliary last Saturday at the Wicklund home. Eleven bridge tables were set up and this event was judged a real suc- cess. All General Hospital Children s Foundation Auxiliar- ies host these card parties and all profits made are turned over to the hospital for needed equipment. Auxiliary A is presently car- rying out the project of taking the library cart to hospital rooms on Thursday each week. This is a very important pro- ject to the hospital patients as it enables them to break up the long day by being supplied with something to do. Fourteen members now con- stitute Auxiliary A, but new members are welcomed. Ben Mitchell, hard working chairman for the event, missed the pieture. March Meet Held By Pilchuck Club The Pilchuck Garden Club held their March meeting at the home of Mrs. Larry Rei- man. For roll call each lady told of a flower now blooming in her garden. After luncheon served by the hostess and as- sisted by Mrs. Richard Rei- man, the business session was conducted by vice president. Mrs. Delmar Byers. A date for weeding the church yard at Lake Stevens was set for March 28 at 10 a.m. Mrs. Carl Utt and Mrs. Gor- don Woodall were appointed to assist Mrs. Meral Thompson with the planting at the Lake I Stevens entry sign. Several i members plan to attend the Japanese display and tea on April 9 in Seattle. A review of the accomplish- ments of the Club in Lake S t e v e n s beautification was given as follows: The Pilehuck Club spearheaded the drive for funds and planting of the new addition of the Senior High raising $225.00 of the $500.00; presented the price of a shrub to the Pilchuck School plant- ing; and raised funds and plant- ed the entire front grounds of the rake Stevens Baptist Church at a cost of $215.00. Members agreed that they are interested in furthering land- scaping and beautification in our area and have tentative plans for fund raising toward this end. Mrs. Henry Bertero gave a report on culture of Begonias and read from the Mayflower , a garden maga- Carl Utt, gave a quiz on the classification of varieties of garden vegetables. Mrs. M. Thompson won first prize. Fea- tured program of the afternoon was a talk on fuchsias by Mrs. Richard Reiman, whose beauti- ful plants of last summer are sure proof of her ability in this area. The theme, Here Comes Spring, was depicted in many beautiful arrangements. Mem- bers also brought their Bonsia trees for display, a project of the year in which unusual in- terest has been shown. The first letter, dated March 16, arrived last week from Frank T. Meyer, whose world famous collection is found at the Lake Stevens Frontier Vil- lage Museum. Meyer left for Europe the first of March where he planned to tour in order to find more antiques for the Museum. Spending four days touring and visiting antique shops in Italy, Meyer reported having seen many beautiful art ob- jects there. Many of them he had seen in pictures and books, but he found that one can never realize the fine beauty and eolor in the pieces until actually seeing them. Meyer liked the Italian marb- les, but regretted having to re- sist from buying them beeause shipping presented such a prob- lem. The program for the evening featured a talk by Faye Hamil- ton of Everett. She spoke on modern art and painting. A financial report for Febru- ary was given by Doris Suha- dolnik, treasurer. She also gave a financial report from the Twig Shop (the gift shop at the General Hospital.) Proceeds all go to the childrens foundation for hospital equipment. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Widklund and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mitchell co-hosted a card party as a money-raising project for the Auxiliary last Saturday at the Wicklund home. Eleven bridge tables were set up and this event was judged a real suc- cess. All General Hospital Children s Foundation Auxiliar- ies host these card parties and all profits made are turned over to the hospital for needed equipment. Auxiliary A is presently car- rying out the project of taking the library cart to hospital rooms on Thursday each week. This is a very important pro- ject to the hospital patients as it enables them to break up the long day by being supplied with something to do. Fourteen members now con- stitute Auxiliary A, but new members are welcomed.
